Standing Up for Migrant Rights: A Call to Action

campaign

At the Sudbury Workers Education and Advocacy Centre, we believe that every individual deserves dignity, respect, and the right to thrive in their community. As recent government announcements threaten to cut permanent residency levels by nearly 25%, it is crucial for us to unite and advocate for the rights of migrants in Canada.

Why This Matters

Migrant workers, international students, and undocumented individuals play vital roles in our communities. They contribute to our economy, support families, and enrich our cultural fabric. Yet, recent changes to immigration policies could undermine their rights, leading to increased vulnerability and exploitation.

Our Commitment

We stand in solidarity with over 120 organizations that have signed an open letter urging the government to:

  • Stop New Immigration Measures: Halt any policies that would negatively impact current migrants and their access to permanent residency.
  • Provide Pathways to Permanent Residency: Ensure that all migrants, including those undocumented, have a fair chance to secure their status and build their lives here.
  • Protect Family Unity: Reinforce the importance of keeping families together, recognizing that separation is detrimental to both individuals and communities.
  • Abolish Exploitative Practices: Eliminate closed work permits that perpetuate exploitation and create precarious living conditions for workers.

Join Us in Advocacy

We invite everyone workers, allies, and community members to join us in advocating for fair immigration policies. Together, we can amplify the call for justice and equity, ensuring that the voices of migrants are heard and respected.

Take Action

Together, We Can Make a Difference

The Sudbury Workers Education and Advocacy Centre is committed to fostering a community where everyone can access their rights and thrive. By standing together, we can create meaningful change that benefits all members of our society.
