With warm welcomes I’d like to say hello, my name is Nathaniel Lanoue, I’m a dedicated 2nd year Social Service Worker Student at Cambrian College. Throughout my academic journey, I’ve had the opportunity to hone my skills in addressing critical systemic issues, with a focus on combating discrimination and improving mental health awareness.

I’m thrilled to announce my latest step towards becoming a social worker: an internship at the Sudbury Workers Education & Advocacy Centre (SWEAC). This opportunity marks a significant milestone in my own personal & professional journey, one deeply influenced by my life experiences and over 20 years as a Sudbury resident. I’ve witnessed firsthand the challenges our community faces, from rising living costs to the profound impacts of the global pandemic on social services and our families.

My commitment as a social work student extends beyond my academic pursuits. For me It’s about embodying the principles of empathy, respect, and kindness in every interaction. At SWEAC, I aim to deepen my understanding of community members’ rights and freedoms and engage directly with the very community that shaped my path.

Thank you for joining me on this journey. I look forward to sharing insights, learning, and growth as I embark on this new chapter.
